Do You Feel Sorry For The NFL?
The decline in NFL viewership has gone from a little leak to a busted pipe in just a year. What all that means is real money is being lost. Add in the angry fans who are threatening to avoid watching, and you have a league whose problems apparently are trending extremely negatively.

When you hold up your middle to your core customer base, after a while, they stop feeling appreciated and they will go away. Good job NFL!!!!!

I'm kind of in the all of the above camp here. Well, I'm not sure about corrupt refs (but nothing surprises me anymore).

They are certainly overpaid, the kneeling was a disgrace, and I do believe athleticism is declining.

We've also got the concussion factor which seems like a pretty legit concern. True it has been politicized, but I can understand a parent not wanting their kids to play.

Will we be able to recognize the NFL even 10 years from now even if it still exists?

All good points. Were you a big fan before and now not so much?

For me, foot ball never thrilled me too much. I played in high school. I played to get the attention of a girl. I got my****beat every game. I never got a ll the strategy, etc. So, the downfall of the NFL was no big shakes for me. For e, it was all political, and I was ... livid over the kneeling thing, and how they handled it.

I'm Al Bundy... a good high school player, but topped out at that level :) Since then, I woulndt call myself a hard-core fan. I dont play fantasy leagues and really watch only occasionally, but watch the Superbowl of course. So, if it disappears altogether I wont be heartbroken. But I would hate to see it go if it is the result of a victory of the left.

Hmmm, I'm not sure I would call the death of an industry a 'victory' for anyone; except maybe BLM.

Ooooh! I see what you mean! Yeah, that would suck.

I agree with you. They brought this on themselves. Now the owners are stuck between a rock and a hard place. I believe they are sorry they let it go this far.

I'm thinkng the bloated salaries are the worst part here. Its that, on top of the kneeling. But if these were regular, hard-working, middle-class people, the reaction might be different. I dont necessarily have an issue with the kneeling. I personally disagree, but it is a form of dissent. I dont think in all cases it is anti-American. But maybe I am giving them too much credit.

I'm almost with ya on this BoSox.
Difference? Well, disrespect to the country is disrespect to the country in my book. I'm not sure what difference it makes based on Who does it, When the do it, etc.

I guess I see it less as disrespect and more as a protest. I mean, many protests can be seen as disrespectful if you are on the other side. I think that in this case, the intent matters too. And I dont think the kneelers are intending to be disrespectful, but rather just protesting.

On the other side of what? Respect?
Time and place BoSox. Like, one doesn't invite their Buddies over for brewskies during grandmothers funeral - it's disrespectful.
These men make a lot of money and have a lot of time off to spend it. If they have a beef, why not do something about it - while not working?

I think the kneeling down at the Anthem and the owners allowing it will be their downfall. Although I love to watch Football, I don't care much for the kneeling down thing at all.

I marked all the above. I really hate the 'double standards.' Now we know that it's okay to kneel for the Anthem but players will be fined for wearing "Santa Cleats" or any other thing that might offend a liberal! Nope, no NFL in this house!

These guys make millions and are subsidized by taxpayers. Kneeling and disrespecting the flag, the soldiers and anyone who pays taxes is too much and the people are showing how much they don't like these actions. There's a time and place for protest, sports arenas need to be politics free.

I'm not necessarily against the protests. I disagree but I do see it as a valid protest. But I think you make a good point that sports should be politics free. Sports are simply entertainment. I think many think of it differently because it isnt scripted or pre-defined (corruption aside) But it is still entertainment. Play the damn game and let the fans enjoy it.

I've been to many and have watched many hockey games. When the flag of the US or Canada is on the ice and the anthems have been sung. Everyone on both benches and the players from both teams and the referees remain standing and no skating until the colors have left the ice.

I do not feel sorry for the NFL, Roger Goodell, ESPN or the team owners LOSING money who allowed these politically IGNORANT overpaid athletes making MILLIONS to bring their political beliefs onto the football field by allowing their players to kneel during our country's National Anthem..... in a country that allows them to become MILLIONAIRES for just playing a damn sport to entertain WE THE PEOPLE.
Having said all that, I honestly tried boycotting watching my team play(the Patriots), but my boycott only lasted 1 week of not watching the Patriots play(which was painful to do so that week lol) because I truly love the game of football, especially with Tom Brady being my teams QB since 2001....yeah he's 40 and says he wants to continue to play into his mid 40's.... but at his age being the GOAT, we as Pat's fans never know if THIS game we're watching will be the last game we get to see him he play due to an injury at his age of 40 as our QB.. One has to be a die hard Pat's fan to get what I'm saying lol :)

The NFL has destroyed itself.................... No one knows what a catch is,,,,,,,,, the refs try to decide the game and the players think that we care what they think............... I don't care what some MILLIONAIRE thinks about anything.......... By disrespecting the Anthem............. Yes, they are disrespectful, they have destroyed all the joy of the game that I have had these last 55 years.

I don't feel bad for the NFL, but I do feel bad for the players. It's a rough game, they work hard, they have to constantly travel, people have them for autographs even when they're eating dinner, and all other kinds of things. I know most people disagree because they make so much money but some of them don't make enough. How can you have enough money when you need three houses 6 Mercedes, and 19 kids to feed?

I actually dont; care, but the NFL is a private entity. Why are people trying to change their business model and why is the President of the US interfering in their business?
Crap.
Aside from that, US football has always been a joke and athletic scholarships to College are rediculous.

Soccer, Lacrosse, and Hockey are much more exciting sports

I actually find soccer incredibly boring. But agree with hockey and to a lesser extent lacrosse. Basketball should be on that list as well.

This doesn't really make any sense. For starters, how is she a hero to Trump and his supporters? Because she also supports Trump, she's automatically hero to the rest of trump supporters? That makes no sense. And the second thing is that she was widely criticized for her actions. So it's not like she went scot-free and the NFL players are criticized.

Good riddence. Football is retarded and it should die a painful death so the rest if us don't have to deal.with it taking all media attention and grunting fans never shutting up about their team.
