Just saying.
They should be proud of their heritage, too

False comparison - makes an unstated assertion of equivalency

there is absolute equivalency based upon ideals.
Both lost a war
Both engaged in human rights atrocities

Actually, based on your logic in the abortion=murder debate, the south did not engage in human rights atrocities. They engaged in fully legal behavior.

It is on topic. There is no equivalency between Nazi Germany and the Confederacy other than they both lost a war.

While the Nazis committed civil right atrocities, the confederates simply engaged in legal behavior.

So, they both lost a war. I don't think I need to create a list of every country that ever lost a war. But, should every one of those countries denounce their heritage?

I''m perfectly content with someone having a flag. Hell, you can fly the Nazi flag.
Just don;t get upset what when some uses their freedom of speech to tell you what to do with that flag.

Do you agree that someone has the right to offend and someone has the right to be offended? That is freedom and I like using my freedom to express my feelings and say whatever I want

What's your point, Jak? Do you want it outlawed? Do you really want to head down that slippery slope?

I actually had a young black on another forum inform me I could be proud of my European heritage, just not my American heritage. And yes, he specifically included that I could be proud of my German ancestry.

I for one am far more proud of my American heritage. I don't consider myself a European. I am an American and damned proud of it. America led the way to freedom for so many. Including the slaves that were brought here. My family never owned slaves. What do I have to be ashamed of? We, as a nation, fixed ourselves. That is another thing to be proud of IMO.

I wasn't promoting pride at all. None of us choose what our heritage is or where we are born, and all nations and races have things in their history that are less than pristine. That doesn't mean you and I are guilty of those things and I refuse to feel guilt for things I haven't done. I just found it ironic that the man felt I should feel guilt for what happened here before my ancestors landed in America, yet gave me a pass to feel pride in the raping and pillaging of my Viking heritage, the imperialism of my British ancestry,...and of course, my German roots.

There is no reason for either of them to be proud of their history.
