Bill Maher thinks so.

Come on, all you Trump haters, admit it. You'd prefer a depression or world war over a second Trump term, right?

If Maher had even stated that he generally wanted the Trump admin to politically fail because Maher thought his own pro-Progressive ideas for the USA were better for the success and prosperity of the USA,, and then elaborated on specifics as to how the USA and its citizens could specifically be better off under the group-think, ruling thumb of Progressivism....Well, I could live with that, even in the midst of my disagreement with it.

But, to actually WANT a recession so that it would take Trump out?....Disgraceful.

Thus, the only thing I understand regarding Maher's wishes is that it should be expected from a disgrace such as Maher.

My sympathies for the guy as he exercises his right to free expression.

Yes, it is wrong.

Tommy, your title question doesn't match the first statement of your post or your reply options.

Yes...and no. Yes, for those who wished similar with Obama, and I knew quite a few back on SH. No, for those of us who didn't then, don't now, and won't wish bad upon the country no matter who is president. Yes, in that not all Trump haters wish such. No, in that some do.

See my comment below for that.

My issue is with this post itself. I don;t get if he does or he doesn't. It's the idea that Trump is being picked on unfairly and that Obama never had any criticism at this magnitude. Trump himself was one of the worst and he;s still at it trying to destroy everything associated with Obama; good or bad

What are you talking about. This doesnt have anything to do with the way Trump is treated. This has to do with a high profile Democrat saying:

"I'm hoping for it because one way you get rid of Trump is a crashing economy"

And even acknowledged the seriousness by following up with:

"Sorry if that hurts people..."

Limbaugh simply said he wanted Obama to fail. This was explained in the aftermath that he wanted OBAMA to fail. He wanted Obama's ideas (socialist in nature) to fail. There are countless way for this to happen--not getting SC through, having his legislation stopped, etc.

Maher specifically hoped for the US economy to crash. Its a bit different. And pretty sad that you dont see it.

Limbaugh wanted Obama to fail. Maher wants Americans to suffer severe hardship so that they will vote with him next election.

Every president has detractors. That has always been true, though it has been much more vocal and obvious with Obama and Trump. Yes, there was a great deal of racial bull**** with Obama, and the birthers never let up and are likely *still* at it. The rioting and calls for assassination have been unprecedented with Trump, however. That said, Trump's candidacy and presidential style tend to provoke those who oppose him. I'll never say he's personally responsible for rioting and calls for his death, no...people are responsible for their own words and actions. Period. He has stirred the hornet's nest among his detractors, though, and then publicly complains about petty crap, and frankly Jak, I quit paying that any mind. Y'all would do well to quit reacting to the petty crap, and quit crying "The sky is falling!" every other day. He's playing y'all. Quit letting him wind you up.

Good and bad are subjective. You are, of course, free to believe whatever you will, but I do not think he is trying to "destroy everything associated with Obama; good or bad." I don't. I think he is trying to dismantle what he sees as bad and replace it with what he thinks is good. I agree with him on some things and disagree on others...that's been true of what every recent president has *espoused*...now what they say/promise and what they do are seldom on speaking terms. Trump's got a large segment of the Republicans in Congress, as well as the Democrats, the media, a goodly portion of the general population, and many world leaders fighting him every step of the way. I'm withholding final judgment. Meanwhile I will continue to wish for the best for our country.

As always...JMHO

Interesting...

Remember Rush Limbaugh? CHECK IT OUT TOMMY BOY! Here is Rush saying he hopes Obama fails back in 2009! LOL

Come on, all you Obama haters, admit it. You wanted Obama to fail. You HOPED for it. Now, you are nothing but hipocrates. I even heard many of you "Special Conservatives" call Obama a "Nigger" , refer to his wife as Gorrilla..

No oner denies what Maher said, but. Dear Tommyb. If you want to behave like an **** and pretend your simplistic brand of conservatism is holier-than-****ing-thou, you better be ready to eat a **** cake. Do you research better

Nothing that Trump has done since he took office has been for the American People. Nothing he has done has helped the American people.. I wish only the best for America. Unfortunately that means fighting Trump and his Republican puppets. on almost everything.

See. This is reasonable opposition. You want Trump to NOT get what he wants and you want him voted out.

You mean you can do that and not wish a financial depression on the country?

No, but don't complain when he ****s things up. You voted for him. But most trump supporters will suck a fart out of his****no matter what he does

Ok. I'll try not to complain about the rising stock market, the growing GDP, the lower taxes, and the historically low unemployment.

Not only lower unemployment overall, but lower unemployment for those people groups that Progressives particularly like to single out, court, and even exploit for ideo-political expediency.

Presidents have very little control of the economy and most changes to it that come from them don't actually amount till years after.

Wow...wonder where that line of thinking was with all the Progressive media's economics-related journalism which blamed the recession that was already in play before Bush 43 (for whom I did not vote BTW) had been in office for even 2 months on Bush 43....lol

I'll never forget that..The guy didn't even have the time to put away his underwear in the dresser drawers of his new WH home, and the recession of 2001 was his fault.

Ironically in Trumps case, that would be as a result from Obama. Lackluster but he is taking credit for what Obie did, just like Obie had to endure criticism for what Dubya did.

It's a cycle. We must kill it
