Recycling is a scam. What do you think?
Recycling specific material is supposed to be good for the planet, save money and make us feel better. The truth is recycling is all a big “SCAM”.

ALL the recyclables collected over all these many years has had little impact on the planet and in some cases the trash sorted isn’t even being recycled. In an effort to save the company money it’s going straight into your local landfill anyway.

I agree with this and find the normal recyling of average household waste a hoax.
Please park your partisan crap aside, read the article and consider before responding.

Do-gooder Progressives & eco warriors misguidigly believe that recyling helps preserve the planet while greedy businessmen consider recycling a business in which they can rape the coffers of our municipalities and the wallets of the tax payers.

I don't know. But I support recycling and think it should be mandatory nationwide.

My folks drilled "reduce, reuse, recycle" (prioritized in that order) into me before it was a slogan or a thing. They brought me up to respect the environment. By reducing and reusing/repurposing, there's little to recycle. Mostly metal and I take that to the scrapyard myself.

The article is correct, though. I had several garbage companies as customers when recycling started in my area, and several did landfill everything at first. One point the article missed is that recycling also uses more energy and resources and pollutes more simply because every route now requires two trucks.

Exactly... Thank you. Recycling does use more energy and resources. The threat against the environment from certain things like bottles and cans is also overrated.

Our pop/beer cans and bottles are returnables. I'm not sure what recycling them amounts to, though empties are picked up when product is delivered. I do see a huge difference as far as littering, though. My folks' cabin is in the national forest and people used to toss them or even leave piles of them after camping/hiking/hunting in the woods. Most people don't just toss them now, and those that are tossed generally get picked up by someone who will cash them in.

Excellent non-partisan post!

What sticks out to me more than the issue of recycling is the bias involved. We have, in this post, a tale of two progressives. JG puts aside talking points and questions a big issue (kudos to him for being fair minded again). On the other hand, Mopvyzo says he wants it to be mandatory at a federal level... even after stating that he doesnt know if the points are valid. Very scary.

As for recycling, i do believe it is a scam. Although i feel that way about global warming as well.

I'm a realist, I;m not a globalist, I'm not a corpratist, an imperialist, or a fascist. I am a libertarian-socialist. My ideal are more Nom Chomski-Bernie Sanders than anything else. I've known Mpvyo for a long time as well as some others here from Sodahead.., If anything, he is consistant (who I cannot stomache). What you do not realize is, I can actually have tolerance and debate civily with conservatives. What I have no tolerance for is Trump and Trumpism, nor did I have any use for that lying war Criminal GW Bush, Cheney and that illegal war in Iraq. I view any defense of them as treason.

Recycling is a scam and the article I posted is dead on, however, global warming is not, but I am not here to debate that issue.

In essence, it's time to start being independant and refrain from being a partisan hack. When I hear and see people echoing party lines & talking about I have absolutely no respect for them. They deserve every bit of mockery and ridicule I give them. People may not find this grown up, but I don't care.

Definitely, and some of us probably a lot sooner.

I have heard the saying 'Death is not to be feared, it is to be embraced'.

It is going to happen to all of us. All of our suffering and anguish will be over.

I have to call B.S. on this. My Son lives near a landfill that's like a mountain and I assure you at least in Ohio the waste is being deposited. The real shame is dumping in our oceans and now we're eating plastic fish. Get a reverse osmosis and fill a bottle for the road.

I understand what the article is saying, but there's a lot people can do to reduce the amount of waste created daily in their lives. You can bring your own bags to the grocery store, you can take your own water along and not buy bottled water, you can pack your own lunches. Have a young couple across the road, and every trash day we put out one or two bags, they put out at least 8. That said, I still take plastic, glass and metal to a recycle station. But it only amounts to a bag a month since I crush everything. (except the glass.

I use my own bags as well. It's obnoxious having all those plastic bags everythwhere plus, I never trust them to not have bottom of the bag fall out.

Having a truck go pick up recycling curbside is kind of silly too.

Watch Penn and Teller BS series on recycling. You are 100% correct. The only thing worth recycling is metal. The rest is to make us feel better about ourselves. The first response tickles the hell out of me. I don't know but everyone should be forced to do it...lmao...

The only things that are sustainably recyclable are glass and metal. Which doesn't really mater in landfills. The problem with recycling is it encourages the continued use of disposable plastic.
