What is something you've done out of the kindness of your heart?
I ask because I have dont many things myself, and I never really get credit for those things, but it makes me very happy to have done them.

For example, today I stopped at a convenience store to grab a drink before work, and upon leaving I saw there was a phone on the ground. I grabbed it, and hopped back into my car. I was getting a ride to work, when I tried to access this pone to see who it belonged to. It was locked.
Not even 5 mins after i was on my way to work, a phone call came in. I answered, and sure enough it was the owner of the phone. So my ride turned around and met the gentleman in the parking lot to the convenience store, where I returned the phone to it's rightful owner. :)
I was 15mins late for work, but I strongly believe in karma, and my work understood, no problems!

I also bought a homeless gentleman a doughnut today. On my lunch break there's a guy who wanders collecting spare change from everyone who will give him some. I've seen him many times before, and i figured he could use a sweet treat, since i was grabbing one myself. I got him a sprinkle doughnut and he was INCREDIBLY grateful. He now calls me "Ms Sweets" because it's the second sweet treat i've bought him in the past month or so.

I know i didn't have to spend my time returning someone's lost cellphone, and i didn't have to buy that guy a doughnut, but I did. I chose to do these things as a friendly way to remind others there is still good in the world, because I truly believe we all have it in us to do good things from time to time, to spread love and karma and happiness of course. :)

So, what's something you have done recently, or in the past that made you feel good inside? How do you spread happiness to others? Any stories you'd like to share?

Thanks for answering!

From time to time I'll give somebody some money without them asking for it.

I sure hope there are a lot of comments for this one. From me personally, I have to say that it makes me realize how much I focus on my own little world. I haven't gone out of my way to do something nice that I can remember in a while.

But... you've inspired me

It's a small gesture, but I always give my bottle returns to someone that, it seems, needs it. There are always guys hanging around so I alwasy give my bags to one of them.

A couple of years ago my kids did a lemonade stand. I agreed to be their employee under one condition,.. that they donate 50% to the local animal shelter. This summer will be the third year in a row that we do it and they love it. Its small, but i like that the kids enjoy giving

Kudos to you-- so important to teach people to be charitable starting at a young age

I rescue Border Collies ( www.greatlakesbcrescue.org ) and kitties, Spay/Neuter the pets of friends who can't afford it, and quietly help people who are in a pinch with the bounty of my labor.

That is awesome Peewee. I have done animal rescue for years, paying for spay and neuters for others. Considering the unconditional love dogs and cats give, it's not much to give back.

I drove past a guy broken down on the side of the road who had a Trump bumper sticker. I figured that by doing so, I was teaching him how to take care of his own situation and automobile rather than giving him a handout

He was a middle white age man who was a bit Obese and who needed the exercise

I don't honestly know. I don't really stop to think about doing something nice before I just do it. Not looking for recognition or praise or even a thank you.

I don't know. I guess maybe you could count helping an older woman with bad arthritis in her legs to push her little grandson on the swings at the park so she could sit down. She didn't ask me to, but she needed to sit, and I was already pushing my daughter in the swing right beside him, so it wasn't a big deal.

For me, I don't think it's so much about recalling individual acts and much as a lifestyle so to speak. I have a genuine heart for the world around me and being kind is just part of who I am. Those that are close to me tell me I am kind, so I trust in that. I'm flawed like anyone, but always do my best to take stock to see where my responsibility lays. Having empathy for animals, the elderly, young children, and those needing a hand are probably where I carry my strengths.

Peas, I was told as a child to do something because it is the "right" thing to do and not for recognition. So I do my best to help out my family, friends and community.
You have a beautiful giving heart that I admire. Guess that's why we're able to understand each other so well.

I was raised much the same by very humble people. Even as a young child, I could not bare to see other people cry or see an injured animal. Having the ability to put yourself in another's shoes is priceless because you will learn so much in the process.
I always said I have the best people surrounding me since being kind is who they are too. You and Lulu are my heroes for simply having kindness and integrity through thick and thin. I truly wish everyone could have that.

I always give to the homeless that are on the street corner. Just a few weeks ago I had a garage sale, the item was priced at $25.00. I could see that a woman wanted that item very badly, and she looked like she didn't have much money. She asked me if I would come down on the price, I said sure, how about I sell it to you for $1.00. She was so happy that she hugged me. lol lol It made me feel good that I made her so happy.

I go to Wendover, Nevada from time to time to play the slot machines and stay overnight. The $80.00 I spend there in three hours helps to keep the casino doors open so that others may continue to go and enjoy themselves. Between the buffet, the live-band performances, the drinks, and the gambling, you can be rest-assured that my suffering is great

Nothing, I guess. Since it's rarely been genuinely appreciated, I assume it's not kindness.

I figure mentioning all those things I've done when no is looking,.....would sort of negate the whole out of the kindness of your heart thing...somehow. I've done things for both people and animals, when it was both hard for me...and really really inconvenient. I've done that because I just couldn't not , I guess.

I crochet warm scarves for deployed troops. I also make them for one of the yarn stores that collects warm items for underprivileged kids.

I saw the account of finding the phone, so this I'll tell this one. I found a cell phone in the middle of the street and brought it inside and called a recent call on it. Got the one who lost it and had it returned to the person soon after.
