This is just one of the serious issues to be tackled by an originalist court.

I have no idea what will happen. Do you?

As far as I understand, issues such as these will simply be pushed to the states to figure out for themselves--which is what should have happened in the first place. There is no reason for the govt to be involved in marriage, but there must be some rules/regulations. So, let each state decide for themselves.

Isnt that the idea behind our founding? A restriced federal govt and more power at the lower levels?

Many states had already legalized same-sex marriage before the Supreme Court made its ruling. Should it decide to reverse its decision on down the road, I would imagine that the more liberal states will not change their position. The more conservative states would likely push to reverse it. The question remains of whether the same-sex marriages that have already taken place and those that have yet to take place would still be recognized as legal since those marriages took place while it was legal to do so. Kind of like a grandfather clause

I think you are right. So, it is likely not the "end of our rights" that the left is portraying it as. Each state will decide, as it should. And, as you noted, many states already have passed laws.

Its easy enought to go somewhere else and get married. Lets make San Francisco the gay Vegas. They can even have their own motto: "what happens in SF, is an abomination"

the quesions are;
1) will it be recognized in another sttate
2) grandfathering

I think grandfathering is a good idea. it will create animosity within the communty (they are a jealous sort) and it would lead to some entertaining fights.

I'm with you. I think that when push comes to shove, nothing will ultimately happen. The people who actually oppose same-sex marriage, and I mean oppose it to the point of actually putting the effort into it to don a political movement to have it reversed, are a minority. I think people in general don't want to open that can of worms again

I think youre right about gay marriage. I would expect it to be pushed down to the states and, shortly, most every state will legalize it. There may be a few that dont, but not many.

It will be worth less as it is immoral.

Morality is subjective. Jesus said,

" Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"

When the US begins legislating morality, then a very big line has been crossed and we are no longer the land of the Free. That is a concept that come Canadians have a problem graspiung, ay?
